Asbury Church and Wichita’s Realtor Community Join Together to Pay it Forward

Ken Bozarth is a Realtor in the Wichita area and has been for many years. Ken, his wife Charissa and family are also active members of Asbury Church.
Ken is active in the men’s ministry and his LifeGroup and Charissa cooks the Wednesday night meals that all enjoy and is always there to help when asked.
Their three children are very involved in youth and children’s activities and help their parents with volunteer activities at Asbury.

Ken was diagnosed with stage three throat cancer this fall and is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy. Being a Realtor and self-employed, Ken is uninsured.
That is where Ken’s LifeGroup comes in to the picture.

At their LifeGroup meeting, Ken’s friends decided that they would come together and support him with a celebration of the Christmas season.
An email went out and an overwhelming response came back. Not only were church friends and family willing to help, the Wichita Realtor community wanted to pitch it.

Planning started at a frantic pace. It started out as just a dinner. Then, the idea came up to provide a concert and have festive Christmas music played. Then, what if we had a silent auction. Even better, lets add a live auction.

Invitations, flyers and emails started whizzing by at cyber-speed. Soon the entire community knew about the event. Without soliciting donations, auction items started to showing up. A lunch with a friend secured catering for the event free of charge! Musicians from the community were more than willing to share their talents for this great cause.

The night of the event came and the venue was beautifully decorated for a grand Christmas event. The auction items were on display and the food and fellowship were first class.
As the evening went on, the basket that collected donations had to be emptied many, many times.

When all was said and done, $10,357.00 was able to be raised to help this wonderful family through this part of their life.

A special thank you is extended to the Bozarth family’s LifeGroup and friends, 1st Security Title Company, Corporate Caterers, and Asbury Church and the wonderful people that call Asbury home.
