Thank you, partners, one and all for helping with "Filling the gap Lunches for Kids"!

Thank you, partners, one and all for helping with “Filling the gap Lunches for Kids”! We have worked together to serve more than 2,400 lunches to children and youth who were at risk of hunger during Spring Break.
Imagine at least 158 volunteers of all ages – YOU! Consider the kid-friendly box lunches and milk (pepperoni was the favorite). Imagine donations of funds, fresh fruit, snack bars, pudding and fruit cups, and school supplies eaten on site and going home in “take out” bags.
Remember the special moments, the “thank you’s,” the eager faces, the goat and the crafts at Asbury Linwood, the bike-riders and walkers at Colvin, the messages on the posters, and the loving blessing written by a boy for Dellrose.
Rejoice that we have such welcoming neighborhood city halls at Atwater, Colvin, Evergreen, and Stanley — and the hosting congregations of Dellrose United Methodist Church, Asbury Linwood Church, and Fairview Christian Church… and the staff and volunteer leaders who made so many arrangements.
Applause to Betty Ladwig and Jane Frederick who traveled among the sites, scheduling and coordinating volunteers! Clap your hads for Debi Kreutzman at Kansas Food Bank. Thanks to our delivery volunteers Rich Harder, Paul and Michael Carlstedt, and Pr. Mike Clark.
This has been a truly heart-warming experience – a community-wide partnership in action. Most of all, together we fed the children, made new friends, discovered civic services, and found that we live here in a caring community — because of YOU!
We will have the opportunity to serve lunches again before school starts in August, and hope that you can help.
Peace and joy!
Pr. Sally Fahrenthold, Samaritan Community project coordinator

There were 544 items collected and 390 items given away in February, thanks to YOU!

During the month of February, We Can accepted 544 donations and distributed 390 items to families in need of assistance. Thank You Asbury for your help in keeping the We Can Pantry stocked. During the month of March, We Can would be grateful if you would bring in items like spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, canned meats, instant potatoes, Baby food, soup broths, and canned fruit. Your continued effort to supply the pantry has helped us increase the number of items we give out as well as increase the number of households we reach!

The Asbury Food Pantry is a venue to distribute food to those in need. Every Sunday after the morning worship service we will be offering food and prayer for anyone who requests assistance. Food will also be available by appointment.

Please contact the church office for opportunities to serve or if you need food.

If you would like to help with the WE CAN food and hygiene products collection efforts, bring your non-perishable food items to any Asbury Campus and look for the grocery cart.
