We have some great classes for the Spring Session of ZONE. Please sign-up on the sheet in the Foyer or call the Church Office (316-942-1491) to let us know you will be attending.
• Cold-Case Christianity -- J.P. Smith’s class, Cold-Case Christianity, will meet in Room B107 starting February 13th. The book is, “Cold-Case Christianity Participant’s Guide: A Homicide Detective Investigates the Claims of the Gospels” by J. Warner Wallace. This fully-illustrated, eight-session guide takes participants through 10 important principles employed by detectives, applying these techniques to the New Testament Gospel accounts. It includes questions for reflection, notes for discussion, and examples to help users investigate the claims of Christianity using the skills of a cold-case detective. Classes will meet on Wednesday nights to watch the corresponding DVD and have discussion together. The book is available through Amazon and Christianbook.com in softcover and e-reader format (ISBN 9781434711441).
• This We Believe -- Pastor Susan’s first class, This We Believe, will meet in B110 and will start on January 16th. The book, “This We Believe! Meditations on the Apostles’ Creed”, by Dr. Timothy C. Tennent, brings together a wealth of theological and biblical insight with years of practical experience. This resource makes for an excellent introduction or refresher course on the essentials of the Christian faith. The book is available in softcover and e-reader format at Seedbed publishing or Amazon (ISBN 9781628240122). The class will last 7 weeks finishing on February 27th.
• The Intercessory Life -- Pastor Susan’s second class, The Intercessory Life, starts with a short informal meeting on Ash Wednesday (March 6th) and finishes on Good Friday (April 19th). Intercession is prayer, but it is far more than that: It is life. The life of a person seeking to be Christ in the world. It is a life where prayer and mission intersect. This book teaches practical ways to bring the world into the prayer closet and to unleash the power of priestly living in our everyday world. We’ll be meeting every Wednesday to watch the corresponding DVD and have discussion together. There are daily readings except for Sunday that go with the 40 days of Lent. The book, “The Intercessory Life: A Missional Model for Discipleship” by Maxie Dunnam is available in softcover and e-reader format at Seedbed publishing or Amazon (ISBN 1628240172).
ZONE Meals Resume February 6th: Help Needed!
Special Thanks to Erna Chrisco for agreeing to help coordinate the ZONE Meals starting February 6th. We do need two more people to help on a Wednesday night with setting up, serving, and cleaning up. They will finish in the Kitchen by 6:30 or 6:35pm and will still be able to attend a class if they want to. Please contact Mary Jo (maryjo.fraipont @asburychurch.org or 942-1491) to volunteer for more information.
